St Martin's School
An independent, co-educational preparatory school.
All children receive individual support from their teacher in class, where appropriate. In Nursey the children receive individual time every day with their teacher. This could be for individual phonic work, reading or Numeracy. In Lower School, the children work individually with a teacher at least three times per week for 1:1 reading or writing support and in Upper School children regularly read 1:1 with the teacher and receive writing support as appropriate.
For a small additional charge, we are able to offer individual tutorship in piano, drums, violin, guitar, trumpet, flute, singing and musical theatre. Our children are entered into music examinations run by A.B.R.S.M (Associated Board of the Royal School of Music).
Some children who have an additional need such as: those learning English as an Additional Language (EAL), working towards age expectations in core subjects or studying for an examination such as 11+, may require further support. We offer small group sessions and individual sessions for reading and high frequency words at no additional cost to parents for the children we identify as requiring this support. This is discussed and agreed with parents in our termly individual education plan meetings which occur after each half term break.
Some children require additional support beyond this or parents wish their child to have additional 1:1 sessions that are taught in line with our school learning approach instead of a private tutor. Details of Individual Support including pricing can be viewed by clicking the link and this can be arranged through the school office.
