St Martin's School

An independent, co-educational preparatory school.

Individual Support

We have a SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) who acts as an accelerated learning teacher both assessing the children individually and teaching in small groups.

There are two lessons of ‘Rapid Intervention’ per week.  During these lessons our Numeracy co-ordinator will spend time with any child in a Form on an individual basis to explain a particular topic that any child is finding difficult to grasp.  ‘Rapid Intervention’ is a way to ensure no child is ‘left behind’.

In Nursey the children receive individual time every day with their teacher.  This could be for individual phonic work, reading or Numeracy.  From Reception to Form 3, the children read individually with a teacher three times per week.

Individual music lessons are available to all children from Form 1.  We are able to offer individual tutorship in piano, drums, violin, guitar, trumpet, flute, singing and musical theatre.  Our children are entered into music examinations run by A.B.R.S.M (Associated Board of the Royal School of Music).
